Year 3

We have had such an exciting week so far in year 3! We have started painting and making our moving monsters and written our mythical creature mystery stories on our coffee stained paper. The children were so proud of their writing and Ms Taylor couldn't have been more impressed!

Newt Scamander's suitcase ended up in our treasure chest! Inside, we discovered two eggs! Using our imagination, we discussed what could be inside the eggs. In our teams, we created our own mythical creature and have started to describe them using expanded noun phrases and adverbs.

Happy New Year!

I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for a very exciting term ahead!

On Monday, we received a special parcel from Newt Scamander to launch our Mythical Creatures topic. The children have been using their skills of deduction this week to be excellent detectives in order to find out which Mythical Creature stole the 'Gem Stone'.

Autumn 2 update!

After a busy half term, Year 3 have come back with a fantastic attitude to their Growth Mindset letters! They will be posted later on this week (11/11/2019) for parents to enjoy learning all about what Growth Mindset looks like at Great Preston.

During our first week back, we also created the Great Preston Wreath for Rev. Dianne's Remembrance Service.

Please remember to earn 20 points when you are practicing your spellings and each week you will be entered into the raffle at the end of each term. Remember, points mean prizes!

Also, reading records are checked every Friday so please do remind your children to bring them in to earn their stickers for 5 reads.

PE days will now be on a Wednesday and Thursday.

Poetry Day!

The theme for this year was 'Truth'. In year 3, we explored a range of Pinocchio poems and compared the different structure and rhyme. In the afternoon, we learnt our favourite Pinocchio poem and performed it to Year 4. Even with a short rehearsal, Year 3 were able to confidently share the poem following Talk 4 Writing pictures and were incredible! Well done Year 3!

Welcome back!

Year 3 have had a very exciting first day back meeting their new teacher Miss Oglesby and teaching assistant Mrs Grassham. We have discovered our new topic is Romans and we even put our team building skills to the test by building our own Colosseum out of lollipop sticks!

Our PE days are on Tuesday and Wednesday and Reading Records will be checked every Friday.
